Some of our folks in West TN have asked about maybe getting the State to issue a Geocaching license plate as an option for automobile tag renewal. I think you have to have a minimum of 100 orders, but it could be done if there's enough interest across the state. Please email me at steve@spencersb.com if you'd be interested. I'll gauge the level of interest and we'll go from there. Thanks! Steve Spencer President Geocachers of West Tennessee

Is it going to have the Groundspeak logo?? Or just refer to 'geocaching' -- already a generic phrase...

I think it's 100, some of the organizations that have them are pretty small. It would have either a generic Geocaching logo, or else we'd get together and design one, sort of like what's going on with the statewide coin.

It's the G where the straight stem makes an X. What is the history of that logo? Does it belong to just one owner? Or is it truly a generic symbol for geoaching?

Groundspeak has and will lay claim to ownership of this logo... There are enough creative and imaginative folks around; let's design our own!

Just the G with a plus sign is a generic logo, free domain. Personally, I like our logo, but I'm admittedly biased. Maybe if we put the G over the top of our red/white/blue state shape?
Alas, unless word just hasn't gotten out, it looks like we'd only have about 10-20 takers anyway!

I have found that some people don't respond, but would still get one if/when it is available. Geocaching events would also be a good place to talk about and judge interest.

I've confirmed the minimum order is 1,000 and the organization has to pay for the production of the minimum before the plate will even be approved. Oh well, would have been nice!
