I have been talking to several people about the development of a state of Tennessee geocoin. Look for an event to be planned in the near future to see what the interest is in this project. Tentatively there will be an event in each of the four cities of Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis. From each of those events a couple people will be elected, drafted, or kidnapped into forming a planning committee for the development of this coin.

I'd be interested in helping design the coin, Also I got an email from Team Bear-Cat expressing their interest as well.
Count me in!

Design of the Tennessee Geocoin is finally progressing. A mint has been chosen and is working with the design ideas that we have submitted. Their work should be available soon, and will be posted here for comment. The design that they are working on is not a final edition, and we can make changes before the coin is ready to be minted.
The basic design is the state of Tennessee on one side with four icons for the four major regions of the state based primarily on the four clubs, West, Middle, Smoky Mtns, and SE Tennessee. The icons that were initially chosen were the Pyramid for West TN, the Parthenon for Mid TN, the Worlds Fair Sun Sphere for Knoxville, and the Choo-Choo of SE Tenn.
Members of W TN have said that they don't want the Pyramid, so we might choose a riverboat or something.
The other side of the coin will feature a scenic picture with a river prominent in the scene because each major city has a prominent river, as do many other areas of the state, like the famous Elk River ;D
Please make comment on what you think of these ideas, and I will get some pics posted soon.

I’m a superficial person and therefore I would prefer a design which would make the coin desirable to persons from all states and not just to the few Tennessee geocachers that understand the meaning of the four symbolic icons. Tennessee on one side and a colorful eye-catching geocaching symbol on the other would strike my fancy.
