In WallyWorld in Hixson picking up some empty film canisters this afternoon I also checked out the latest batch of rechargeable NiMH batteries. In the Photo Center they now have the 2200 mAh AA batteries, for $6.73 for a 4-pack. Seems like AB4N mentioned a couple months ago that Sam's Club also had 2200 mAh batteries (though probably in a 24-pack... ). WalMart also has the best value NiMH battery charger that we've found, too. It is a "Digital" brand charger, that includes an AC cord for home use and a DC cord for auto use, and 4 AA batteries (1800 mAh), for less than $17 ($16.83?). We bought 2 of these charger/battery sets for Chistmas 2 years ago and they work great! One pair of fully charged batteries lasts for over a day of caching in our Map 330 or eTrex Legend. And the charger will fully recharge depleted batteries in about 2 hours. There are many other name-brand or fancier or faster charger/battery sets out there, but they cost usually twiced as much! And, yes, the newer high-capacity alkaline batteries last a long time, longer than 1 charge for NiMH batteries, but you still have to throw them away when they're dead ($ $ $ )! We're not great big fans of shopping at WallyWorld, but this is too good a deal to not pass along to cachers with battery-hungry GPS receivers and digital cameras and more. Happy Caching!

Wonder if they still have that, Santa brought me some so now I need a charger. ;D They still had that $16.8something charger/battery set at the WalMart in Hixson yesterday afternoon. It's in the Photo Center at the back of the store. It's a "Digital" brand name, in yellow package (with green, blue), on display next to the digital cameras. The charger is silver/grey. The 2 that we bought a couple years are still working well for us. The chargers and batteries have gotten a lot of use and covered a lot of miles, at home and in the jombbl caching-mobiles.
