Hi all ... Was wondering if anyone can help me on how to transfer GSAK database files to my eXplorer 600's SD card. I am running the newest version (5.6) of GSAK, and have followed the directions per the GSAK website:
File=>Export=>Magellan eXplorist and SD card...
and I enter (in the "File to create" box ) my file name (....OBXwpts.upt) and save. I then copied the .upt file into the SD card's "My POI" file -- and it shows up in there when I view from my PC.
But once the SD card is installed in the GPSr, I can't seem to access anything stored on the card - nothing comes up in the POI menu. Am I using the wrong file extension (*.upt) or am I doing something else incorrectly?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Are you putting the files in a subdirectory of the storage card? My Magellan can't see any files that aren't at the root level. This goes for waypoints (*.wpt), tracks (*.trk), and topo maps (*.img). E.g., when the SD card is in the memory card reader it's my Z: drive. So my Magellan could NOT see this layout:
Z:\Tracks\AudubonAcres.trk Z:\Maps\Atlanta.img Z:\Caches\Nearby.wpt Z:\Waypoints\Mine\Eateries.wpt
But, if I changed their file locations, then they could be seen in this location:
Z:\Audubon.trk Z:\Atlanta.img Z:\Nearby.wpt Z:\Eateries.wpt
For my Meridian Gold the menu choices to load a waypoint goes like this MENU > SETUP > CLEAR MEMORY > WAYPOINTS > YES I'm sure. This clears all the old stuff out, otherwise the existing waypoints prevent all the new incoming waypoints from loading. I.e., if I already have 200 waypoints in memory and load a 400 waypoint file, the last 100 don't get loaded (if memory serves correctly on the 500 waypoint limit).
Then MENU > CARD UTILITIES > LOAD WAYPOINTS > select file from the list.
This probably isn't what you're experiencing, but just to confirm: Are you using a SD card larger than 2Gb? That might cause problems because a 4Gb card uses a different format (NTFS I think) while the older cards use, I believe, FAT32. Of course the new eXplorists may be able to read both, but I know that older equipment has the 2Gb limitation.
