It has been several years since I have been deep sea fishing, and I am going to try and get together a group of people to charter a boat. If you have never been it is very fun! The fish are huge I have been on one and two day trips. I have found that 12-18 hour trips are usually the best for your money. On the two day trips they just go out further and you have more trip time without really any more fishing time. I will start with geocachers and see how many people are interested. If there are not enough from this group then I will ask some people at work as well. My 16 year old son loves to fish, but has never been deep sea fishing and I would like to surprise him with this - I haven't told him about the plans yet.

Let us know as the where/when/$ details work out -- we might indeed be up for it! Ms. Bear-cat used to work for a guy who was a serious marlin-fisher; even named his business "Marlin..." Sure sounded like fun!

Deep sea fishing is a real blast! I have always chartered a boat out of Panama City. It really depends on the length of trip and number of people going. We never chartered the large party boats because they don't do as good and there are too many people that you end up getting crossed up too much. A group of eight has always been a good number and the captain does a great job taking you to good spots. We have caught over 400 lbs. of fish in a 18 hour trip.
