Dear members of GEOSET,
The meeting was a huge hit. Geocachers as far away from Nashville, Knoxville and the greater Atlanta area attending, the total including GEOSET members was 42 at one count.
Registration with CarolinaMOOn and the eating and chatting session was from 1 to 2:30 and then the meeting was underway. Hikenit started off the meeting
and introduced Mtn-Man who gave us some great direction to go to, some already implemented and some in next phases of the club formation. Topics mentioned was club website, forums, being a contact for cache placements in the area and volunteering to be a cache helper in the area.
After Mtn-Mans presentation, we had a short discussion on a letter that Hikenit was preparing for the City of Chattanooga to be sent for getting the word out for our club and introduce Geocaching as an outdoor adventure game to coincide with the Mayor's Outdoors Chattanooga Plan.
There was also a discussion from Nashville's MTGC member and Tennessee's State Park Geocaching liaison JoGPS. He passed some information on TVA for contacting them on cache placements on TVA property for all states.
Near the end of the meeting there were a bunch of door prizes handed out and several new caches to hunt for as well as a Kiddie cache that CarolinaMOOn provided.
We finished the meeting with a fill the bucket with gas money for Mtn-Man that he later declined to take.
Post meeting notes;
1. There is now a website for GEOSET in the works with AB4N doing the site building and Nifty950 getting the site hosting service. The site can be previewed at home.earthlink.net/~rnangelin/GEOSET/ .
2. The letter that Hikenit has typed up has been sent with no response yet from the Mayor's office or Chattanooga Parks and Rec Department due to their
holiday schedule.
3. Currently AB4N, Hikenit and Tom-Terrific are in the process of contacting TVA for future cache placements for all TVA recreational property and for GEOSET to be the contact for questions and concerns.
4. Since the gas money everyone donated for Mtn-Man's gas money was declined, we now have thirty eight dollars for funds that could be used for future endeavors such as website name reservation, event hosting and etc.
5. If you picked up a Travel Bug, please log it as soon as possible. We need to archive the meeting cache page.
Now as we start to enter the New Year, We hope that you continue to support the development of GEOSET for 2004. Your participation is key for us to grow into a great club.
Thank You!
