Just signed up on the GEOSET website to make any and all of our neighboring cachers aware that we will be having a Georgia Geocachers Association (GGA) meeting in Rome Georgia on April 10th. Sledgehampster, Bad Dawg 83, Deaglos and myself are hosting (in other words, we're the local guys) and we will be having a hamburger/hotdog cookout with the trimmings at 1:00 (all times EST), with the meeting kicking off at 2:00. I'm not sure of the meeting agenda, but I believe it may be a "back to the basics" topic and I had requested discussion on devious/sneaky/evil hides/tips/tricks...but I'm not sure anyone will divulge any close-to-the-vest things they have seen or plan to place!
The GGA meetings always have door prizes (and travel bugs) that are raffled off to those who attend, we local hands are gathering up some nice items. The Rome Braves (A Class farm team of the Atlanta Braves) are playing that evening and we have 4 box seats and 2 Field Level seats to give away, as well as a Palm IIIxe PDA (gently used) for paperless caching.
3 of us GGA members are kicking off a TravelBug race with "The Three Mooges" Moo, Dairy and Curdley TBs, these will be starting their mileage race as doorprizes as well.
If you can make it, we'd love to have any and all, the Rome area has exploded with caches in the past year with around 40 caches in the area. Plan on coming down Friday (theres a game that night too) and staying overnight to get them all in. The John's Mountain "Pocket" area has some beautiful scenery and tougher caches, alas our mountains don't compare to the GEOSET area!
If you plan to attend (by doing so, you've joined GGA, no dues but we do pass the hat for a buck or two to pay for the meet place, if applicable), post a note on the event cache site (GCHY5R) and let us know who will be there and we'll plan on enough food!
