Open invite to the AGA, GGA, MSGA, GEOSET and MTGC:
Y'all come join us!
Since I was a baby we used to gather family and friends at the lake four or five times a year, sometimes have thirty or more folks, and spend the day swimming, skiing, BBQing and just relaxing and having fun. I haven't done that once this year!
We've had some great Meet & Greets, but nothing like this, so let's do it!
This isn't a geocaching event, but rather an invite to all who read this to come and spend a day totally relaxing!
At the typical M&G or geocaching get-together we have a few minutes to a couple hours at most to talk and get to know one another, and folks are bouncing in and out to go geocaching, and basically it's all about geocaching...not of much interest to non-geocaching family and friends.
I know a number of men and women who geocache but their partner doesn't, or their kids don't, so this is a chance to get everyone together.
This is just a picnic at the lake, not a geocache for miles! Well, there are some, but GeoRose made me promise to ignore them! (There's a couple on islands in the lake that we may have to accidently stumble over though).
I will provide a BBQ grill that'll hold up to a hundred pounds of meat (it has, many times!), my pontoon boat for riding and knee-boarding, and ice chests of water.
If you have a ski boat, bring it!
I will BBQ Boston Butts, ears of corn and baked taters, per the all-day recipe I posted in the (alacache.com General > We've Got Jokes How About Recipes) thread.
If you want the same, bring it, or bring whatever meat and veggies you want grilled and whatever you want to grill it with (sauce and seasonings), bread, etc.
This would be a great time to cook the recipes you submitted to the Recipe thread and everyone could sample all the dishes!
Let's do this Saturday, August 14th at Guntersville State Park, Guntersville, Alabama.
Bring family, friends, whoever, and plan to spend the day. We'll hang some tarps in the trees for those who want shade or need to set up a play-pen for the babies, and spread lawn chairs about the water's edge for the sun-lovers.
RSVP here if you're coming so I will know how many to plan for.
This picnic starts at 9 a.m. and lasts all day - come for whatever amount of time suits ya, dinner will be around 3-4 p.m. so out-of-towners can get home early.
See you there!
